Denver walk in clinic

The healthcare system is overrun by people who are suffering from some kind of ailment. There are diabetics and those with high cholesterol. There are those with serious illnesses like multiple sclerosis and heart disease. There are those with hypertension and heart palpitations. In the United States, we have a Western model of healthcare.

That Western model of healthcare includes treating people with medication, of using an engineered pill that has past multiple levels of evaluation by the Food and Drug Administration. These tests weed out pills that are not as effective as others and many are not approved each year.

The ones that do have efficacy in terms of treatment of individuals with certain health conditions. There are pills that even take on issues like sexual dysfunction, like the pill called Viagra and the pill called Cialis. There are those that believe pharmaceutical companies are out to deceive and make money off sick people.

Some believe American healthcare professionals and the healthcare industry are not interested in helping people get relief from their illness. Instead, they are trying to keep people ill, in order to continue making money off of them.

It is possible that Americans are struggling to get better because they are not willing to pursue solutions to get better as well. This is especially thought in circles where diet reigns supreme over other kinds of treatment, such as drugs and talk therapy, at least in the case of mental illness. Diet becomes a catch-all for all things related to treatment.

Drugs are one solution for many kinds of illnesses, as they often reduce symptoms in certain patients, though not always and that is a significant issue within the medical field. Diet for some works, as does other forms of treatment, such as it pertains to the world of mental illness.

Diet has been implicated in numerous illnesses, especially the chronic ones such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, cancer, and more. Having a meat heavy diet tends to be associated with high blood pressure, heart disease, and high cholesterol, whereas the intake of sugar tends to affect those with diabetes.

Eating a Western diet has been associated with what are called diseases of affluence, such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and more. These illnesses or conditions afflict millions of Americans and have led to hundreds of thousands of deaths in the past 10 years or so.

There are some statistics associated with diseases in the current state of American health. They are:

  • Thanks to the popularity of tanning and the slow depletion of the atmosphere?s protective ozone layer, skin cancer rates have more than tripled since 1975.
  • Doctors agree that sun damage can contribute up to 80 percent of skin aging, more than smoking, inadequate sleep and dehydration.
  • According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, rates of depression in elderly people can range from 3 percent to 13.5 percent.
  • About one in 20 adults over 65 suffer some form of memory loss, and 30 million people worldwide suffer from dementia, which can include Alzheimer?s disease.

The healthcare system in America is under strain from all these different illnesses and America’s refusal to adopt a semi-healthy diet that will reduce the prevalence of numerous diseases with physical health. Adopting a healthy diet full of beans and legumes, fruits and vegetables, complex carbohydrates and more would help.

There are statistics surrounding the strain on the American healthcare system. They include:

  • According to current data, the U.S. needs about 52,000 more primary care physicians by 2025 to meet our healthcare needs.
  • Between 2003 and 2009, the mean wait time in ERs went up by a quarter, from 46.5 minutes to 58.1 minutes.
